Investment in Unit Trusts - Invest in the Plan, Not Products
If you are planning to invest in unit trusts but do not have the time, knowledge and skills to do it, let our qualified and experienced planners and advisers help you. Besides being financial planners, we are also licensed Persons Dealing in Unit Trusts (PDUTs). You do not pay extra sales charges other than what is regulated by law under the new Single Pricing regime or according to the prospectus of the fund concerned which varies from 5% to 7% of NAV (net asset value). Whether you invest with an ordinary unit trust agent or our qualified and experienced planner, the sales charges are about the same.
The Single Pricing regime is now more transparent in that you are able to know exactly how much you pay in sales charges at the time of investment. It is also meant to ensure that investors get good value from advisory services. This means paying for value-added and professional services which only a qualified and experienced planner or well-trained unit trust agent can provide.
However, if you choose to invest through us, you will get good advisory services which an ordinary unit trust agent may
or may not be able to offer you. As financial planners, we look deeper into your needs, and use the financial planning
approach to offer you a solution to meet those needs, and not just selling you a product (please see our approach and
methodology below). In short, we encourage you to Invest in a PLAN, NOT just products.
Disclosure:
In the above situation, we are not writing a financial plan for you but merely marketing unit trust funds that meet
your investment objectives. For this advisory service, we do earn a commission of about 4% which is paid directly by
the unit trust company to us for recommending their unit trusts. You are not compelled to buy these unit trusts if you
do not believe that they serve your purposes. However, we believe we can give you good value when we work with you and
educate you about managing your own financial affairs relating to your investments.
Our Approach and Methodology
- we seek to understand your purposes of investing and your expectations
- we seek to understand your ability to take risk in terms of tolerance and capacity
- we help you to understand that time is critical to allow your investments to generate expected returns
- we propose that you invest regularly instead of timing the market
- we propose that you use dollar cost averaging to even out price fluctuations
- we propose that you diversify your investments into both local and global funds, different asset class or sectors to spread risks
- we use an asset allocation model to help you balance risk and returns
- we monitor, review and re-balance your investment portfolio as and when market conditions change
- last but not least, we keep you informed and updated on important events and happenings
